Research Fellowships
I have won nationally competitive research fellowships twice from the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India and awarded Junior & Senior Research Fellowships.
JRF awarded through "CSIR-UGC Joint Entrance Examination for JRF and Lectureship" by the University Grants Commission, Government of India.
Achievements:
- Worked on the estimation of methane emission from Adyar and Covum rivers in Chennai.
- Worked on groundwater contamination in Madras (Chennai) city and contributed to the publication.
- Developed skills in analytical instruments viz., SKALAR Auto Analyser and Gas Chromatography.
- Developed a custom made software for the estimation of methane emission rate from the wetlands.
- Visited and initiated research collaboration with Environmental Survey Laboratory, Kalpakkam.
- Developed research proposals for Pb-210 dating of core sediments from Adyar and Pulicat.
Position: Junior (September 1994 - September 1996) & Senior Research Fellow (September 1996 - July 1999) at the Department of Applied Geology, University of Madras, Guindy Campus, Chennai.
JRF & SRF Awarded through: "Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering" by The Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India.
Achievements:
- Worked for the doctoral thesis on: "Iron(II) oxidation by H2O2 in Seawater: Implications for global climate change".
- Generated funds through research proposals.
- Developed research collaboration and published several journal articles.
