Research Fellowships



I have won nationally competitive research fellowships twice from the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India and awarded Junior & Senior Research Fellowships.

PositionJunior Research Fellow, Institute for Ocean Management, Anna University, Chennai during March 1992-April 1994 (Discontinued Ph.D programme).

JRF awarded through "CSIR-UGC Joint Entrance Examination for JRF and Lectureship" by the University Grants Commission, Government of India.

Achievements:
  1. Worked on the estimation of methane emission from Adyar and Covum rivers in Chennai.
  2. Worked on groundwater contamination in Madras (Chennai) city and contributed to the publication.
  3. Developed skills in analytical instruments viz., SKALAR Auto Analyser and Gas Chromatography.
  4. Developed a custom made software for the estimation of methane emission rate from the wetlands.
  5. Visited and initiated research collaboration with Environmental Survey Laboratory, Kalpakkam.
  6. Developed research proposals for Pb-210 dating of core sediments from Adyar and Pulicat.

PositionJunior (September 1994 - September 1996) & Senior Research Fellow (September 1996 - July 1999) at the Department of Applied Geology, University of Madras, Guindy Campus, Chennai.

JRF & SRF Awarded through: "Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering" by The Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India.

Achievements:
  1. Worked for the doctoral thesis on: "Iron(II) oxidation by H2O2 in Seawater: Implications for global climate change".
  2. Generated funds through research proposals.
  3. Developed research collaboration and published several journal articles.
